Catherine Rayner

Catherine is a pretty well known award winning Author and Illustrator whose work I absolutely adore! She has published 8 books so far, although she is quite young and her career started not long ago. Here is her website for those who are interested to find out more about her.

Almost all Catherine's characters are animals, and as far as I understood, she has a lot of them at home (a cat, a guinea pig, a dog, a horse and a fish). Some times she uses her pets as models.

I love her style of drawing and story-telling, because it is very light, effortless and tender! She has such a lovely way of creating her illustrations, using subtle colours and tones whilst playing with scale and composition. I also love the way she uses all sorts of different media and still manages to achieve a total harmony on the page.

Too much talk again.... Better have a look!

  1. I love her illustrations they are so alive. Catherine's style reminds me of Mirko Hanák's work.

  2. Encantadores, suaves e doces.
