Automnal Tea Party

That is such a shame that Autumn is gone! I love Autumn and this year it was absolutely amazing!!! It was the warmest, driest, the most colourful and peaceful autumn ever!!! I just couldn't get enough of it!!! But!!! We can't influence the course of time and the ever changing seasons... Although I can still draw Autumn, can I? I can and I will!!!

Here are some lovely ladies (they are fairies actually) enjoying their tea party on a warm Autumn day somewhere in Provence.... It has to be France! It just has to be!


And since I am feeling particularly generous today, here are some progress drawings as well, to show you how I did it!

I start from the rough sketch:


Then I create a more defined sketch with all the details:



Then I decide on the colour palette:


Then I add some textures:


Then I bring some magic to fairies (they don't have to have wings by the way, if they don't want to):


And last but not least - I finish the background, and voila!!!


I hope you  will find this short illustration of my illustration if not useful, then at least entertaining!!!

    OMG! I am dying with adoration over here! Not only to I love this autumnal tea but also your process photos. hee hee. We work so similarly! You cats and mice are my favorites of any I've seen...oh, and your people faces too. There is so much to take in and see.
