Levi Pinfold

Not long ago my friend, Irene Owens, a very talented artist and illustrator came to visit me in Greece. She brought me some picture books as a present. We both are absolutely crazy about picture books. One of these books really caught my attention. It was so beautiful, I couldn't take my eyes off it!

It was "Black Dog" by Levi Pinfold.  It was very different, atmospheric and full of intricate details. This book won Levi the Kate Greenaway medal, which I think is well deserved.

Here is Levi himself! Isn't he just lovely?

I wanted to show you some of the illustrations from this book, and some other works of Levi Pinfold, because I think that he is an amazing artist and fantastic illustrator! His style is very different from what we can see on the market today. His drawing technique is called stylised realism.

Levi likes motorbikes, a lot of music, trees, and some cats.  He currently lives in Brisbane, Australia with his girlfriend and Howard the lizard.  He attempts to grow vegetables in his spare time.

Here are some of his other works

What do you think?
