My first mail out

I have prepared three promotional cards. One drawing will go on the front, and all the rest from the same series plus my contact details will go on the back.

I have bought some lovely square envelopes and have written letters to the publishers. I am planning to put all three cards in each envelope with a covering letter and send them out.... Then I am planning to keep my fingers crossed and hope that somebody somewhere will like at least something...

I don't have any illusions. I know this business is very tough and unsolicited submissions are usually ignored, but I have to start somewhere, and I do believe that if you try and do your best, you will eventually succeed. Life loves the ones who dare :))))

Or I am just trying to persuade myself that it does :)

Anyway, if you know any card publishers that you think might be interested in my work, please let me know! Any help and pointing in the right direction would be very much appreciated!!!

  2. I agree with Jennifer! They are truly wonderful. You are way ahead of me. I have the same problem of how to put my arts out there. I truly admire your courage and attitude of "life loves the ones who DARE". You are so right about that,Elina! Your arts are unique and stylish. I am sure that you will be able to find them "homes". My suggestion is that you should go to places where they carry greeting cards, and write down the companies who carry the same style of your arts and send them your designs. It will takes lots of effort, but it will be worthy it. I hope that this will help!!!! Happy creating art!

  4. By the way, have you ever hear of National stationary trade show in America? It is a great place to put out your designs and let all the greeting card companies and publisher who will attend the event to find you. I am working hard to come up with my designs,so I can attend it someday soon. Here is the link, and I hope this will help!

Have you looked at Milkwood Publishing, Phoenix Trading, Glebe Cottage Studio? They seem pretty contemporary and have a good range that you might think suit your work.

    Anyway, once again, good luck!

  11. Thank you so much Julia! I know Milkwood, but I didn't know the other two companies. And they are brilliant! I will, most definitelly send them my work. Have you done this before??? I am just a bit concerned that the time is close to Christmas now, and all the companies will be overloaded with xmas stuff... May be it is better to wait till spring now... I don't know...
