Milk Fairy

I loved the Book Fairy, so I decided to draw another one!

And it had to be the Milk Fairy! Here she is!

Her name is Pippa. Obviously, you don't have to feed her with anything but milk! And for that, she will make sure that your milk never goes sower, is never spilled and never runs out!!!

I wonder which Fairy will be next?

Book Fairy

I drew this Fairy to take care of one lovely little book shop in Falmouth.

Her name is Masha and she promised to take a great care of the books. To protect them from thieves, spiders and Amazon. All she needs is a good supply of historical novels (they are her favourites), white chocolate and strawberries...

Disguise

This is my debut for Illustration Friday.

I decided to be quick and not spend more than an hour on the drawing...

The topic was DISGUISE and this is what I came up with :)

Rabbit says sorry

Here is a little rabbit for you!

This is for all those people who struggle to apologise.... If you can't say it - Write it!!!! Or just send a card!

Happy Birthday Uncle!

It was my Uncle's birthday not long ago... Well, he is not My Uncle really, but the Uncle of my ex. But I grew to think that he is and I have no intention of changing my mind....  Funnily enough his family is the only family in England where I feel like at home. It does really feel like MY family... They are all very special people to me and I love them very much!

So, He was 70!!!! Big Number! I had to do something special for him! Obviously, the only thing I could do was a drawing! What else?

Uncle is very big! He is tall and wide and reminds me of a big cuddly bear! So I played around this idea, and drew his family - Uncle, his wife, two beautiful daughters and their gorgeous dog Montie dressed in animal costumes. Here is the result:

I framed it and sent it to him by post together with a hand drawn card. He received everything on the day of his birthday, so everything went up to plan! I think he laughed! And this is the best reaction I could hope for!

Barbara Reid

Here is another interesting Author and Illustrator! She is from Toronto and her style of illustrating is quite unique! She draws with Plasticine!!! Barbara creates amazing three dimensional pictures full of colour and movement! She has a fantastic WEBSITE, where you can find all sorts of interesting information about her, including the video tutorials of how she actually does it.

All I wanted to do is to show you some of her work!

This cat again

I think Nimbus has hit the rock bottom!...

The more I draw him the more I want a cat! My son would LOVE to have a cat, but I am allergic to them.... Such a shame, because otherwise I would most definitely get him a fat ginger cat! And we both would love this cat to bits!!! But I have to limit myself to imagining one...

Books

There are a few books I have read to enrich my knowledge in Illustration and may be to earn a penny or two with my talent. Not all of them were proven to be particularly helpful, but some of them were quite informative and interesting!

Here are the books that I found useful in one way or another:

I promise to write a short review on each one of them a bit later, but for the moment I would like to talk about one particular book that I am reading at the moment and am very impressed with!

It is this one:

"How to be an Illustrator" by Darrel Rees, Head of Heart Artist Agency, one of the largest UK artist agents.

I found this book incredibly helpful and well written. It covers all the topics that were bothering me as a starting illustrator, plus it has loads of interesting interviews with artist who made it into the big world, telling us how they did it and giving the newcomers some valuable advice.

You can read a lovely review on this book here.

I would just like to add that I would most definitely recommend this book to anyone who is planning to become an Illustrator!

I Love Dolls!

Who wants to see some fantastic dolls?! I have never seen anything like it! They are so sweet and cute and a bit sad... I was absolutely mesmerised by them! And my respect top their creator Masha Brick! Check out her Blog if you want to have a closer look! What attention to detail, fantasy and workmanship! I could never have enough patience to produce something like this!

Each doll has a full set of dinky clothes, shoes and even underware. Each doll also has a setting - usually a room with furniture, or a park. And each doll has a story and personality! I always wanted to draw one of these dolls, because I find them very expressive and full of character!

I finally found time to do it! So, here is the result:

I drew THIS doll.

Best Friends

Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow.
Don't walk behind me, I may not lead.
Just walk beside me and be my friend.

Summer!

I am sooo glad it is summer! And it looks like pretty summery summer too, which is quite unnatural for England! Every morning I am opening the patio doors to let the sun in! And it is soo much better to work, to draw and to live when the sun is shining! I just wish it stayed with us for a bit longer!!!

Also, I love sitting somewhere on the beach or in the beach cafe watching the children playing in the sand. I would really like to do a series of drawings of kids on the beach with their spades and buckets, sunhats and cute little swimming suits! I find them mesmerising!

But! Back to reality! I have a huge card portfolio to finish, two books, sorry, now three books to illustrate, oh! and the house to clean, and the shopping to do! So, I am afraid, the kids on the beach with their buckets and sunhats will have to wait!

I can't just post a text without a picture, so here is a little card that I have drawn yesterday:

I wish you all to have a fantastic Summer day!

Bored Cat...

And a bit more of Nimbus!

And! I have found an absolutely fantastic book about the world of illustration! I am planning to write an informative post packed with the resources that I have found useful in my self-education. I hope it will help all those talented people who would like to become professional illustrators, but don't know where to begin.

Flying Cat!

Nimbus is not having a good time.....

Lots of presents!!

Do you like presents??? I LOVE presents! I don't even care much what it is, I just love the anticipation! I like the surprise and the process of guessing, shaking and unwrapping!

But even more than receiving presents, I like giving them! I usually put a lot of thought in the presents I am planning to give, and I do prefer to make my own when I can.

My Uncle will be 70 soon. That's a BIG birthday, that requires a very FAT present... I am all in thoughts about something special for him!!! And while I was thinking, I drew this! Not quite related to my Uncle, but still sweet!
